PRODUCT INFORMATION

Product Details.

A Penetrant Tank System is a specialized Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) solution used for Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI/DPT) of metallic and other suitable non-porous components. The system is designed to organize and control the different stages of the penetrant testing process for consistent and reliable inspection results.

The system can be configured with multiple processing stations, including pre-cleaning, penetrant application, drain and dwell, washing, drying, developer application, inspection, and post-cleaning stations. Depending on production requirements, the setup can be supplied as a manual, semi-automatic, or automated penetrant testing system.

Penetrant Tank Systems are suitable for industrial inspection environments where repeatable processing, controlled dwell times, chemical handling, and efficient component movement are important.

  • Oil & gas equipment inspection
  • General industrial NDT applications

Working Principle

During liquid penetrant inspection, the test component is first cleaned to remove surface contamination. A visible or fluorescent penetrant is then applied to the component and allowed to remain for the required dwell time.

The penetrant enters surface-breaking discontinuities through capillary action. Excess penetrant is removed from the surface, followed by drying and developer application. The developer draws penetrant back out of discontinuities, producing visible indications that can be evaluated during the inspection stage.
